The currency in Guatemala is the Quetzale. The exchange rate varies between seven and eight quetzales for one US dollar.

If you elect to stay at our apartments, although the bathroom is shared, the room and facilities are immaculately clean.

Home stay is with a nearby Guatemalan family for 7 days, includes   a private room and 3 meals a day, except Sundays.

Your experience while attending our Spanish speaking classes is important to us. We want you to enjoy Guatemala and go home with a sense of our culture. We are very particular about our selection of Guatemalan home stay families and their neighborhoods. You will stay in a safe, clean, comfortable home with a hot shower in a safe neighborhood.

Examples of costs in Guatemala: a bus fare is Q1, a taxi across the city is Q25, a pound of strawberries is Q3, a haircut is Q10, a cell phone offers Q300 rechargeable cards at Q1 per minute (you can make calls to United States the at this rate).

A little information about our mountain colonial city Quetzaltenango or as the locals call it….Xela, (pronounced Shayla). The weather is comfortable year round. Our city is known for its dry crisp clean air.

You will need a light jacket for mornings and evenings. Temperatures range between the 70s and 80s year around.

Public transportation is excellent and inexpensive.
